The lock is very robustly mounted to the door with four large wood screws.
Tthe strike or striking plate (the section mounted on the frame) is also mounted very robustly to the frame with five large wood screws.
When this lock is in the locked position, a 7mm steel bolt physically joins the lock and strike together and they become impossible to separate from the outside. This is very different from a conventional night latch, where the bolt simply slides into the striking plate, and makes the lock particularly suitable for use on double doors.
This lock is very resistant to kicking attacks and jemmy attacks, and is completely resistant to slipping methods.
This method of locking has been used in North America for decades but has never been deployed here in the UK until now.
