The famous Ingersoll SC71 Night Latch, sometimes simply described as 'The Ingersoll Lock' or simply Ingersoll has been In continuous production since the early 1970s and still largely unchanged.
The Ingersoll lock gained its reputation because of its registered 10 lever key system. Each lock was supplied with a registration card which the owner completed and posted back to Ingersoll in the Midlands. It was then only possible for the owner to obtain additional keys by mail order from Ingersoll directly. Key blanks were never issued to the trade and the whole system was protected by an international patent.
All good things come to an end and this was the case for Ingersoll, the patent expired and he market was flooded with non original keys blanks. It became possible to have an Ingersoll key cut almost anywhere with varying degrees of key cutting quality.
To address this, we supply the Ingersol SC71 with a high security cylinder designed and produced by Mul-T-Lock, specifically for the Ingersol SC71. Each SC71 comes complete with 2 Mul-T-Lock keys, which are registered and highly protected my Mul-T-lock. Each lock is supplied with a credit card type plastic registration card and Mult-T-Lock dealers will only cut the key for the rightful person who presents the card for inspection.
I give you the Ingersoll Lock re-born!
